Innersource
software store @publicis sapient
user research | heuristic evaluation | usability testing | mid & high fidelity designs
Publicis Sapient are a multinational organisation, with numerous software development teams working on various projects for clients in all spheres of technology. As such, they develop a lot of software IP that can be re-used and shared between internal teams, improving the delivery time and quality of all projects. Until recently, there had been no centralised repository or shop front where teams could publish their projects or find what they could reuse.
I joined when the first iteration of InnerSource, Publicis’ internal software store, had been live for a quarter. Some ad-hoc comments on it were that people are confused with the information architecture and what exactly the aim of the store was.
Over 2 months, I reviewed the current state of the InnerSource website, carried out usability testing, & redesigned the UX and information architecture (IA) for the website, aiming to make it more user-friendly and easy to use.
The process I followed was:
6 usability testing sessions with users of various seniority and experience with the website across technology & consulting, through which I identified the various areas of difficulty and confusion. I also identified areas of potential new development that would benefit both software publishers and consumers. All documented and shared with all relevant stakeholders.
Redesign of the IA to simplify it and clear circular connections between elements.
Redesign of the experience to highlight the most relevant information on each page and aid users in finding the details they need at each step.
Created a strategy for tracking the usage of the website and all its features.
